Dear Alana,

We are thankful for another day that you can fight. There are so many people everywhere who love you and are praying for you to heal and recover. I checked our voicemail last night and listened to a message that you had left me this past Friday. Your voice was the most beautiful sound and made me feel so close to you. As always you were so thoughtful wanting to see how we were all doing and you were so excited to be coming to Tampa for your birthday next week. You sounded absolutely wonderful in your message, and we pray that it is that same enthusiasm and zest that keeps you hanging in there.

Matt and I have started videotaping James each day so that you can see him change and grow and will not have missed a single moment of his life. We pray together each morning and night, and I pray for you all day long. You are always on my mind and always in my heart. We love you so much and you are doing such a great job of hanging in there. I can't imagine how hard this is for you, but please draw on the strength and the love of the people who are praying for you. It's going to take some time, but you are going to recover and we are all here to help you and to love you and to support you. Just rest and heal and know that God is with you always to give you strength, comfort, peace, and to heal you along with your doctors.

At school during the morning I asked one of the nuns to pray for during our morning prayer, and everyday people have been asking me how you are doing.
